MILWAUKEE – Freshman Sara Travia scored two goals and was one of six different Raiders to find the back of the net as the MSOE women's soccer team rolled to a 7-0 win over Maranatha Baptist Thursday evening at MSOE Field.
The Raiders (7-6) scored three goals in the first half and four more after the break in collecting their fourth-straight win.
Travia nabbed the first two goals on the night, dribbling in on the Crusader keeper, maneuvering around her and finishing into the open net in the 15th minute. Then, in the 23rd minute, freshman Erika Spanbauer lofted a cross towards the goal. The keeper mishandled the ball and Travia was there to put the loose ball in the net.
Sophomore Caitlin Liddiard then made it a 3-0 first-half advantage in the 29th minute. She dribbled down the far side, evaded a defender and scored to the far post.
In the second half, MSOE wasted little time in increasing its advantage. In the 54th minute, sophomore Natalie Gayner converted off a dropped ball by the keeper when freshman Kait Riley sent a difficult cross into the box.
Senior Paula Bohl converted from the top of the box off a Liddiard assist in the 60th minute and sophomore Aly Leopfe converted unassisted just 100 seconds later.
The Raiders outshot MBBC 28-2, with Travia taking 12 shots alone and putting eight on goal. The home team also forced all seven of the match's corner kicks.
Freshmen Sydney Stephans and Haley Anderson each played a half in goal. Neither was called on to make a save.
MSOE returns to action Saturday, hosting Benedictine at MSOE Field. The Raiders and Eagles kick off at 3:30 p.m.
