SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Senior Jenna Harvestine converted a penalty kick with 23 seconds remaining in regulation to send the MSOE women's soccer team to a 2-1 win at Lakeland Saturday afternoon.
The Raiders (9-8, 7-3 NACC) controlled the match, holding a 20-1 shot advantage, but trailed 1-0 at halftime. They got on the board shortly after the intermission and pulled ahead of the Muskies (5-12-1, 2-8 NACC) in the final minute.
Senior Paula Bohl was taken down in the penalty area to set up the decisive score. Harvestine then stepped up to the penalty spot and converted the game winner with at 89:37. It was her first goal of the season.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Bohl set up the equalizer in the 54th minute, playing a through ball to freshman Sara Travia. Travia took the ball into the box and beat the keeper for her team-leading 12th goal of the season.
MSOE nearly pulled ahead on a penalty kick in the 62nd minute, but LC's keeper Ali Thompson came up with a save to keep the score level. It was one of 11 saves in the match for Thompson, as the Raiders put 13 of their 20 shots on goal. The also forged a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Raiders close out the regular season Wednesday at Edgewood in Madison. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
