LISLE, Illinois – Junior Melina Lynn scored two goals to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Benedictine Saturday evening at the Sports Complex.
The Raiders (11-3-1, 6-0 NACC) scored inside the first two minutes and led the Eagles (5-6-3, 3-2-2 NACC) 2-1 at halftime before tacking on an insurance goal in the second half.
It was senior Caitlin Liddiard opening the scoring for MSOE just 100 seconds into the game, scoring on the first shot for either side off an assist from senior Rachael Griffin. Lynn then notched her first goal of the game in the 26th minute off an assist from senior Anna O'Donnell.
The goal held up as the game-winner as Benedictine pulled a goal back just under three minutes later in the 39th minute.
Lynn then tacked on an insurance goal in the 81st minute to make it 3-1 and secure the result.
The Raiders put together another complete performance, outshooting the Eagles 17-5 in the game. They put 13 of their shots on goal, forcing the opposing keeper into 10+ saves for the second-straight game.
Junior Mary McFee made one save in goal for the victory.
