SHEBOYGAN, Wisconsin – Freshman Brooke Zidek scored two goals to lead the MSOE women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Lakeland Wednesday evening at Taylor Field.
With the win, the Raiders (11-8, 9-1 NACC) claimed the NACC regular season championship, their second–straight title, with a 27 points, edging Dominican (8-0-2) by one point for first place.
MSOE clinched the No. 1 seed in the NACC Tournament and will host the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals Wednesday, Nov. 1, at Viets Field.
Zidek netted both of her goals in the first half as the Red & White dominated the match from start to finish. The team outshot Lakeland 34-3, putting 17 shots on target in the match.
The rookie's first goal came unassisted in the 25th minute and she doubled the advantage in the 36th minute off an assist from freshman Maddie Howell.
MSOE took a 2-0 lead into halftime, adding an insurance goal in the 54th minute on a penalty kick. After a foul in the penalty area, freshman Gracie Horton stepped up to the penalty spot and buried her opportunity to make it 3-0.
Lakeland then scored an own goal to cap the scoring.
In addition to securing the valuable No. 1 seed in the NACC Tournament, the Raiders were also able to play every available player, allowing others to rest after a rigorous regular season. All 22 available players saw the field, including all three goalkeepers.
