Women's Soccer Falls Short in Bid for Third-Straight Title

MILWAUKEE – Dominican scored a goal in each half to prevail over the MSOE women's soccer team 2-0 in the 2017 NACC Tournament Championship Saturday afternoon at Viets Field.

The Raiders (12-9) fell short in a bid for a third-straight league tournament title and subsequent trip to the NCAA Tournament. With the win, the Stars (17-0-4) earn the league's automatic bid to the national tournament.

Dominican converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute and notched an insurance goal late in the second half to provide all the offense it would need.

The match was evenly played for much of regulation, with each team taking 11 shots. There was a 10-5 discrepancy in corner kicks, but the Raiders were able to limit any chances that came from those set pieces.

MSOE also had a penalty kick midway through the second half, but could not convert and helped Dominican maintain the 1-0 advantage at the time.

Sophomore Abbie Lorenz made three saves in the match.
