Namen, Schultz Named All-Region

MILWAUKEE – Junior Shelby Namen and senior Missy Schultz of the MSOE women's soccer team have been named to United Soccer Coaches all-region teams, the coaches' association announced this week.

Namen was named to the All-Central Region Second Team and Schultz was a third-team selection. This is Namen's second-straight regional award and the third-straight season in which the Raiders have boasted multiple all-region selections.

A back-to-back All-NACC First-Team honoree, Namen has been a fixture on the Red & White back line and has led the defense through a tough schedule. MSOE posted seven shutouts this season with a 1.71 goals against average. That figure includes a difficult non-league slate against, among others, five NCAA Tournament teams. In NACC play, the 2016 NACC Defensive Player of the Year led the defense to a 0.90 GAA and five shutouts. Offensively, she added three assists to the attack.

Schultz was also a repeat all-conference first-team selection and earned league honors in each of her four seasons. In 21 starts, she netted five goals with a pair of assists for 12 points. Three of her scores were game-winners, including in back-to-back road matches at Concordia Wisconsin and Aurora. She played a deep defensive midfield role, aiding in a defense that has posted seven shutouts on the year. In addition to her first-team awards, Schultz was also named to the All-NACC Second Team in 2015 and the All-Freshman Team in 2014.
