KOHLER, Wisconsin – The MSOE women's tennis team posted a decisive 9-0 shutout of Lakeland Friday evening at the Sports Core.
With the win, the Raiders (5-9, 4-4 NACC) are one win away from clinching a third-straight NACC Tournament bid for the first time in program history.
The Red & White worked hard for a handful of its wins but easily removed all doubt in the victory.
The No. 1 doubles pairing of junior Sammy Soeder and sophomore Hannah Marron scored an 8-1 win while sophomores Katie Clements and Cierra Smith put together an 8-2 win at No. 3. Senior Cali Bonie and junior Kim Baffin then closed out a sweep of the doubles matches, 8-4, at No. 3.
In singles play, Soeder kept the ball rolling in the top position with a 6-4, 6-3, win. Clements won in straight sets at No. 3, 6-4, 6-1, while Smith was victorious at No. 4 by a score of 7-6 (7-2), 7-5. Junior Olivia Boden rounded out the clean wins, 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 6 position.
Marron battled hard through three sets for her win at No. 2 before prevailing handily in the tiebreaker 6-4, 4-6, 10-3. Sophomore Leah Becker was also a winner in the tiebreak, rebounding from an opening-set loss to complete the shutout with a 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 win.
The Raiders close out the fall season Saturday, hosting Dominican and Concordia Chicago at Nicolet High School.
