KENOSHA, Wisconsin – The MSOE women's track & field team posted four wins in taking second place at the Ranger Relays hosted by UW-Parkside Friday evening.
The Raiders finished with 117.5 team points to take second to Upper Iowa in the eight-team standings.
Bilskie and Kotarak each won events for the second-straight meet to open the season. Bilskie cleared 9-0 1/4 in the pole vault to finish in a three-way tie for first place. She then outlasted her competitors in a protracted "jump-off" to emerge victorious. She added a runner-up finish in the finals of the 55m hurdles, where she ran 9.08. Senior Holly Denfeld was right on her heels in third place, crossing the finish line in 9.27.
Kotarak had a busy meet, adding top-three finishes in both the finals of the 55m and the 200m, as well. She ran 7.76 as runner-up in the 55m, then turned in a time of 28.25 for third in the 200m.
In the long jump, Kotarak claimed top honors with a leap of 17-3 1/2. Buchholz was third in the event at 16-8 1/2. Meanwhile, Buchholz's win came in the high jump, where her final height of 4-11 tied her for top honors. A pair of teammates tied for third in that event with a height of 4-7 in senior Rachel Lynde and junior Bianca Trombley.
Rounding out the winners was Bray in the 1,000m, where she ran 3:30.34 to top second place by 10.60 seconds.
Denfeld and Trombley added additional top-five showings in the triple jump, where Denfeld placed third at 34-4 1/4. Trombley had a jump of 30-11 3/4 and was fourth.
Junior Brianne Harris and the 4x400m relay also posted strong finishes. Harris was fourth in the shot put with a distance of 34-2 3/4. In the relay, a contingent of Raiders ran 4:30.08 for third.
MSOE returns to action next Saturday at UW-Platteville's Pioneer Open.
