KENOSHA, Wisconsin – Junior Jerica Kotarak of the MSOE women's track & field team took second in the triple jump at the Carthage Final Qualifier at the Tarble Center.
Kotarak leaped 37-5 1/4 in her only event at the meet as she looks to qualify for the NCAA Championships. It was her best jump of the season but does not place her into the top 30 nationally. She will take another crack at a qualifying distance Saturday at UW-Stevens Point's Last Chance Qualifier.
Kotarak is currently in a qualifying position in the long jump, ranked ninth at a school-record 18-9 1/4. She has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the long jump both indoors and outdoors in each of her first two seasons. She is looking for her fourth triple jump qualification.
Junior McCoy Swanson of the men's track & field team also competed at the meet, running in the 200m and competing in the long jump. He posted a time of 23.70 to take sixth in the 200m and jumped 19-4 3/4 for 16th in the long jump.
