MILWAUKEE – Junior Jerica Kotarak of the MSOE women's track & field team qualified for the 2018 NCAA Championships in a pair of events when the declarations for the meet were made official Saturday morning.
Kotarak qualified for both the long and triple jump events and will compete at the national meet for the sixth-straight season (indoor and outdoors). She's previously qualified for the long jump all six times and will compete in the triple jump for the fourth time. She last competed in both events 2017 indoor meet.
Kotarak is seeded seventh in the long jump and 21st in the triple jump. She earned her qualifying mark in the long jump on Thursday at the NCAA Last Qualifier hosted by UW-La Crosse. Competing at the site of the NCAA Championships, she leaped 19-0 on her final jump to vault up the national standings.
She qualified for the triple jump with her school-record distance of 38-4 3/4 from the NACC Championships.
Kotarak was an All-American in the indoor triple jump as a freshman in 2016.
The 2018 NCAA Championships kick off next Thursday at UW-La Crosse. The long jump is Thursday at 3:45 p.m. and the triple jump is Saturday at 11 a.m.
