WHITEWATER, WI-- Jerica Kotarak won the triple jump to lead a strong team effort to open the 2019 campaign for the indoor season for the MSOE Women's Track and Field team at the Karl Schlender Invitational Saturday at UW Whitewater University.
The Raiders finished with 59 team points and placed 5th among seven teams in the field.
Kotarak claimed top honors in the triple jump with a mark of 36', she also finished 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 16' 11 3/4". The jumps were one of many strong areas for the Red and White on Saturday, as Bianca Trombley finished 7th in the high jump clearing 4'7" and was 6th in the long jump with a mark of 16" 2 1/2", she also finished 7th in the 60M high hurdles in a time of 11.45. Michaela Baraglia finished out the scoring for the jumpers with a 8th place finish in the high jump with a mark of 4'5".
The runners also shined for MSOE on Saturday as they opened up the day with a 2nd place finish in the Distance Medley relay, the team was comprised of Patty Bray, Maia Heineck, Grace Kusik, and Kendall Marks with an impressive time of 12:01. Marks and Kusik day would not end with that run either. Kusik claimed 5th place in the 600 meter run in a time of 1:52.19 and Marks finished 2nd in the 3,000 meter run clocking a time of 12:01.
The throwing crew also tallied 14 points for the Raiders in Whitewater. They were led by Brianne Harris who finished 2nd in the weight throw, with a toss of 44' 7 1/2" and she also finished 5th in the shot put with a put of 32' 10 1/2". Aiding her in the weight toss was Morgan Traughber who took 8th place with a throw of 30' 9 3/4" and adding more points in the shot put was Amanda Ksioszk who finished 8th with a mark of 29' 8 1/4".
The Red and White will travel to UW Parkside next Friday to continue the 2019 campaign.
