MILWAUKEE – As the collegiate athletic season winds down, there is one MSOE Raider student-athlete that is still putting the finishing touches on her career. Jerica Kotarak (Wind Lake, Wis. / Muskego) has been named Ian's Pizza Raider of the Week thanks to her incredible performance at the NCAA Final Qualifier hosted by UW-La Crosse late last week.
Kotarak had already locked up a spot at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships when she qualified in the long jump back at the NACC outdoor conference championships. But that wasn't quite good enough. The senior jumper wanted to make it an even dozen NCAA qualifications in her Raider career.
Head Coach Allie Nicosia and Kotarak set their sights on the triple jump as that 12th and final national championship event, focusing all of their efforts with that goal in mind during the final few "last chance" qualifiers. It came down to her last jump at the last meet of the regular season, but Kotarak will be a member of the field in the triple jump in Ohio. Not only did she qualify, Kotarak took down her own school and NACC conference outdoor record with a pop off jump of 11.93 meters, beating the previous mark by .23 meters.
Kotarak will now begin preparations for her last few trips down the runway, beginning on Thursday at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. She will try adding another All-American title to her resume with the long jump at 4:00 pm central, before entering the final event of her career during the triple jump on Saturday afternoon at 12:45 pm central.
