MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's volleyball team hit .245 as a team and featured a balanced attack as it swept Rockford 25-14, 25-15, 26-24 Friday night at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (10-12, 2-3 NACC) capped the night in thrilling fashion, fending off four set points by the Regents (1-19, 0-5 NACC) in the third game with six-straight points to seal the victory in three.
Junior Hannah Pekarek led the way with eight kills on .312 attacking. Senior Rachel Lynde had seven kills without an error while juniors Elsey Kohlmann and Heather Dukat notched six kills each. Lynde and Kohlman also had five blocks each in the match.
Maddison Hiland had 10 kills for Rockford.
MSOE won the first two sets going away before the Regents took control in the third game. The Raiders found themselves playing catchup for most of the frame and trailed 24-20. The Red & White then rattled off six-straight points to stave off losing the set and overtake the visitors to close out the match.
Big runs put MSOE in the driver's seat of each of the first two sets. In the opener, the Raiders were leading 10-7 before scoring nine-straight points to open a 12-point lead and never looked back. Then, they went on an 11-2 run in the second game to pull away.
In addition to an efficient offensive attack, the Red & White added eight total blocks and 55 digs. Senior Aleah Quast led the back row defense with 16 digs and helped limit Rockford to just .057 hitting on the night.
The Raiders return to the court Saturday, hosting Edgewood at noon.
