Women's Volleyball Falls Twice at WLC Tourney

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's volleyball team opened play at the Warrior Invitational Friday, falling in three sets to Maranatha and Center at the Recreation Complex.

The Raiders (9-18) played the Sabercats (16-10) for the third time this season, with MBU winning the season series 2-1 thanks to a 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 win Friday. Then, in the second match of the day, the Dutch (12-18) prevailed 25-22, 25-15, 25-18.

Senior Hannah Pekarek led the way against Maranatha with 13 kills and 11 assists in the match. Freshman Italia Fields also posted a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.

Claire Hansel had 15 kills on .406 attacking for the Sabercats.

MSOE attacked .103 in the match 27 kills against 24 errors on 126 attacks. The team added 6.0 blocks behind three from Fields and four by sophomore Megan Brock. MBU hit .216 on the afternoon with just 14 errors among its 111 attacks and 38 kills.

In the nightcap, Pekarek and freshman Quinn Borchert had six kills apiece to lead the team. Senior Kaylie Butt chipped in five kills of her own.

Melissa Miller and Hana Edgerton had seven kills apiece to lead Central. The Dutch hit .210 on the night with a 38-17-100 line.

The Raiders finished at .058 hitting for the match.

MSOE closes out the 2018 season Saturday, playing UW-River Falls and host Wisconsin Lutheran. The Raiders have played both teams already this season, falling in four sets each time.
