RIVER FOREST, Ill. – MSOE women's volleyball kicked off the first of four games this week last night when they headed to Illinois to take on the Stars of Dominican University. Unfortunately, the DU offense was too much for the Raiders to handle, as the Red & White fell in straight sets for the second match in a row.
MSOE – 0 (16, 12, 19)
Dominican – 3 (25, 25, 25)
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (7-13, 2-3 NACC) didn't necessarily have a bad match on Tuesday night. They didn't have a negative hitting percentage in any set, nor did they have an excess of errors. It just came down to the power of the Dominican (14-5, 3-2 NACC) offensive attack. The Red & White was only able to get into double digit kills during one set last night, compared to the Stars who had at least 13 in all three. The Raiders were in the contest early in set one, but that is where things started to fall apart. The flow to their game was cut off at every pass, with DU putting together run after run to prevent MSOE from obtaining any momentum. Dominican was the first to ten points in each frame, usually before the Raiders got to five. That ended up being a combination that would spell defeat in each set during the 3-0 loss inside Igini Sports Forum.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will continue their busy week this Friday at Hotchkin Arena when they battle Edgewood at 7:00 pm.
