Women’s Cross Country Takes Sixth at NACC Championships

MEQUON, Wisconsin – Senior Alex Muench placed 26th place to lead the MSOE women's cross country team to sixth place at the NACC Championships Saturday at Concordia Wisconsin.

The Raiders scored 171 points to finish ahead of seventh place by 33 points in the 11-team field.

Muench ran 26:23.0 while freshman Caro Quintero was just 13-plus seconds back in 32nd place with a time of 26:39.4. Junior Kayla Thilges also ran under 27 minutes with her 39th-place showing coming with a time of 26:52.

Freshman Lexi Maruga ran 27:12.5 for 43rd place and sophomore Morgan Balog posted a time of 28:07.4 for 52nd place to round out the scoring runners. Junior Samantha Brooker and senior Desy Echevarria also factored in the top seven. Brooker crossed the line just after Balog in 28:08.9 for 53rd place. Echevarria, meanwhile, squeezed past freshman Jennifer Leonard for 56th place in 28:25.9. Leonard settled for 57th, just 0.3 seconds back.

MSOE placed sixth for the second-straight season, knocking 26 points off its score from last season.

The Raiders now prepare for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships Nov. 11 in Rock Island, Illinois.
