Women's Tennis opened its season last week with matches at Carroll, UW-Stevens Point and against Loras. Freshman Sammy Soeder debuted at #2 singles and #1 doubles against Carroll and picked up a pair of wins. Her doubles partner, junior Carly Grant, later scored singles wins at UWSP (#2) and against Loras (#1). Junior Cali Bonie played in the #3 position and scored a win at Carroll.

The Raiders get an early taste of league play. After hosting Ripon on Wednesday, they play their NACC opener at WLC (Hart Park in Wauwatosa). MSOE then plays a league tilt with Mount Mary at home Saturday.

Up Next: Women's Tennis plays at Dominican and Aurora Sept. 17.

Saturday: MSOE @ Ken Weidt Classic (CUW Campus), 11 a.m.

The Cross Country teams started their season with a pair of shorter races last week: a 2-mile dual meet at Concordia Wisconsin and the Tom Barry Invitational (Men: 4.1 miles; Women: 5000m). The Raiders will get their first run at full distance this week. The Ken Weidt Classic is hosted by Concordia Wisconsin on its campus. It's a familiar course for MSOE as its previous run in the Weidt, in duals and recent league championships.

MSOE fell just short of defending its Tom Barry Invite title on the men's side last weekend. The men finished second in the 13-team field with senior Austin Wright taking fourth and junior Trey Horbinski ninth. On the women's side, the Red & White was eighth among 14 teams. Junior Alex Muench led the team in 39th place, while junior Becky Sondelski was 44th in her first race in nearly two years.

Up Next: Cross Country runs at the Tom Hoffman Invitational at UW-Whitewater on Sept. 17.

Friday-Saturday: MSOE @ Tim Kopka Invitational hosted by Carthage
Sunday-Monday: MSOE @ UW-Eau Claire's Frank Wrigglesworth Invitational

Golf started the season with an 11th-place team finish at the Culver's Edgewood Classic last Friday and Saturday. Senior Eric Fulsaas shot in the 70s both days and tied for 29th place.

The Raiders will get a good workout this weekend, playing at Carthage's Kopka Invite Friday and Saturday, then UW-Eau Claire's Wrigglesworth Invite Sunday and Monday.

Up Next: Golf heads to the Midwest Region Classic Sept. 17-18.

Wednesday: MSOE vs. St. Norbert, 6 p.m. [Video | Live stats]
Friday: MSOE @ UW-Stout, 7 p.m. [Live Stats]
Saturday: MSOE @ UW-LaCrosse, Noon  [Live Stats]

Women's Soccer got off a 2-0 start last weekend by unofficially winning the Belles Invitational with a 1-0 win over host St. Mary's College. The Raiders opened the weekend with a 3-1 win over Kalamazoo Friday, overcoming a 1-0 halftime deficit. Juniors Mary McFee, Kassidy Girmscheid, Kelsey Hailey and senior Kait Riley were named to the All-Tournament Team. Girmscheid had the winner Saturday, while Hailey had a goal and assist Friday.

MSOE starts its home schedule with a Wednesday night contest against St. Norbert. Kick-off is an hour earlier than usual at 6 p.m. The Raiders have played the Green Knights in each of the last two seasons and are 2-0 all-time in the series. This weekend, they then embark on a tough WIAC road trip to northwest Wisconsin, playing UW-Stout Friday and UW-Lacrosse Sunday.

Up Next: The schedule does not get easier for Women's Soccer as the team plays at Chicago Sept. 14 and host Dominican Sept. 17.

Wednesday: MSOE vs. Ripon, 7 p.m. [Video | Live stats]

UW-Oshkosh Pizza Hut Classic (Tournament Information)

Women's Volleyball opens its 2016 season this week, hosting Ripon Wednesday before heading to the Pizza Hut Classic at UW-Oshkosh on the weekend.

Second-year head coach Tom Wood returns junior setter Abby Born and sophomore hitter Hannah Pekarek return to drive the offense this season. Senior Sarabeth Haworth was a consistent attack option her first two seasons, but made a successful switch to libero last season and will bring a leadership role on the court.

Up Next: NACC play wastes not time in getting underway, as Women's Volleyball opens its league slate at Concordia Wisconsin Sept. 13 and hosts Edgewood Sept. 15. The Raiders then host a triangular Sept. 17 with Maranatha and Macalester coming to the Kern Center.

Wednesday: MSOE @ Lawrence, 7 p.m. [Video]

Men's Soccer kicked its season off with a two-game road trip to Minnesota last weekend, coming away with a pair of tough, one-goal losses. Junior Braden Andryk scored the team's first goal of the season at Hamline Saturday.

The Raiders play at Lawrence Wednesday, then return home for a pair of engineering rivalry games against Illinois Tech Friday and Rose-Hulman Sunday. The first 100 students to Friday's game received a slice card from Ian's Pizza.
