MILWAUKEE - MSOE is celebrating DIII Week this week and has a slew of home games for fans to join in the celebration. For a complete list of the week events, visit the release here.
LACROSSE (3-5, 2-1 MLC - W1)
Lacrosse split a pair of games last week, with a tough 12-7 loss to Beloit mid-week and a 14-5 win over Monmouth on the weekend. The team is clicking in a lot of the right areas of late, averaging 16 goals per game over its last four games and conceding just 6.7 per game in that time. A league game with Concordia Chicago on Wednesday and a non-league contest with Northland Saturday are on the docket this week. Clay Gustafson, already the program's all-time leading scorer, is closing in on Brent Finnegan's school record of 84 career goals, entering the week with 81.
SOFTBALL (13-5, 4-0 NACC - W7)
Softball had a dynamite week last week, going 6-0 and getting off to a 4-0 start in league play with sweeps of Marian and Dominican--two of the hottest teams in the league. Marian entered league play by going 11-1 in its preceding 12 games. DU, meanwhile, had its 14-game winning streak halted by the Raiders. Emily Snow is riding a 16-game hitting streak and has hits in 17-of-18 games this season. Shannon Curtis has been great in the circle, appearing in 15-of-18 games this season with an 8-3 record, a save, 2.92 ERA, and 73 strikeouts in 76.2 innings. MSOE takes a brief break from NACC play for a doubleheader at Maranatha, then returns to the circuit on the weekend for dates with Wisconsin Lutheran and Concordia Wisconsin.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL (19-3, 15-2 MCVL - W4)
Men's Volleyball winds down the regular season this week with matches against Benedictine and Dominican. The Raiders have won four-straight matches and have set a school record with 19 wins this season. They are enjoying the best run in program history with 17, 18, and 19 wins in each of the last seasons, respectively. Last weekend, MSOE scored road wins at Olivet and Adrian to solidify their seeding for the MCVL Tournament next week.
Rowing is back in the water on the Milwaukee River this Saturday for the Milwaukee Open Regatta. The Raiders are coming off a strong spring training trip to Texas where they rowed against Baylor and will now host crews from schools like Marquette and Northwestern. The regatta starts at approximately 8 a.m.
Track & Field was finally able to open its outdoor season this past weekend at the Pioneer Invitational with some strong results. On the women's side, Shana Cook obliterated the school record in the hammer throw by nearly 29 feet and took second in the javelin. The teams swept the 3000m steeplechase at the event, with Becky Sondelski winning the women's race and Austin Wright topping the men's field. This weekend, the teams head to Ripon for the Wisconsin Private School Invitational.
MEN'S TENNIS (3-14, 2-0 NACC - W2)
Men's Tennis saw its hard work pay off as it got off to a 2-0 start in league play last weekend with wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and Aurora. The team faced a rigorous non-conference schedule and benefited from the stiff competition. John Price and Tom Smith each went 2-0 in both singles and doubles play in the matches. The Raiders will look to ride that momentum into home matches with Concordia Wisconsin and Marian this Saturday at the McKinley Marina Tennis Courts.
BASEBALL (8-10, 1-3 NACC - L2)
Baseball went 3-3 last week with a sweep of Illinois Tech and split with Benedictine highlighting the week. The Raiders finished this off with a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Concordia Chicago and are off to a 1-3 start in league play. The win over BenU was especially exciting as MSOE hit four home runs in the game, including Garrett Willems' lead-off, walk-off home run in the ninth to break a 9-9 tie. This week is light as only a doubleheader at Lakeland lies ahead for the team.
