MILWAUKEE - MSOE is on spring break this week but the Raiders are not. There is a loaded slate of action for several teams including home Baseball, Softball, and Lacrosse.
Ian's Pizza RAIDER OF THE WEEK: Jerica Kotarak, Women's Track & Field
BASEBALL (14-10, 5-3 NACC - W6)
Baseball is coming off a decisive sweep of Edgewood on Saturday and has now won six-straight games. The Raiders scored 31 runs on 39 hits over just 15 innings to hand the Eagles losses of 17-3 and 14-3. Nick Gross batted .588 for the week with 12 RBIs, including 6-for-11 with two home runs and eight RBIs in two games at Edgewood. This week, the team has a packed week with a doubleheader against Marian Monday, a single game at nationally-ranked UW-Whitewater Tuesday, a road doubleheader at Wisconsin Lutheran Saturday, and back at home for two games with Aurora Sunday.
SOFTBALL (18-8, 7-3 NACC - W1)
Softball played just one doubleheader last week but came away with a doubleheader split against perennial league champion Aurora. Shannon Curtis continued her hot pitching with a shutout of the Spartans in game one. Meanwhile, Emily Snow extended her streak of reaching base safely to 24-straight games. This week features another NACC power in Benedictine Monday, followed games on the road at Alverno Thursday, home against Rockford Saturday, and at Edgewood Sunday.
Golf continues to march towards the spring portion of the NACC Championships, playing one more tournament Tuesday at Carthage. The third round of the NACC gets underway Sunday in Aurora, Illinois. The Raiders are currently seventh in the standings and are the host school for the event. Eric Fulsaas shot a +1 (73) last weekend to take second at the WLC Spring Invitational.
MEN'S TENNIS (6-15, 5-1 NACC - W3)
Men's Tennis is in fine league form, picking up a pair of 9-0 sweeps on Saturday against Concordia Chicago and Dominican. The Raiders have won five-of-six league matches with four shutouts included. MSOE takes on Lakeland mid-week, then heads to Carthage Saturday.
LACROSSE (5-7, 3-3 MLC - L2)
Lacrosse dropped games to two of the perennially top-two teams in the league last week in CUW and Aurora. This week, the Raiders face a critical showdown as they look for a first-ever league tournament bid. MSOE hosts Cornell Saturday in one of its final two league matches of the regular season. If the Red & White can close out league play with wins over the Rams and Benedictine on April 26, they could qualify for the MLC Tournament.
Rowing is back in the full swing of the spring portion of its schedule. The Raiders competed in duals with Wisconsin and Minnesota last weekend and will return to the Madison area this weekend for the Devil's Lake Regatta.
Track & Field sent a small delegation to the Benedictine Relays last weekend and came away with several outstanding performances. Most notably, Jerica Kotarak won the triple jump and took second in the long jump, behind only a competitor from Division I Milwaukee. On the men's side, Trey Horbinski won the 3000m steeplechase. This weekend, the team will be at full strength for the St. Norbert Invitational Saturday in DePere.
