NACC Women's Basketball Tournament Field Set as MSOE Wins in Finale

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (naccsports.org) --- After clinching its seventh Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) women's basketball crown Wednesday night, Wisconsin Lutheran College closed out the regular season with a 55-42 victory over Edgewood College Saturday afternoon, helping to set the field for the upcoming NACC Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Warriors (24-1, 19-1 NACC), who enter the tournament on a 13-game winning streak, and No. 2-seeded Lakeland (20-5, 16-4 NACC) earned first-round byes for the tournament, while Concordia University Wisconsin (3), Dominican University (4), Aurora University (5), and Milwaukee School of Engineering (6) round out the six-team field. MSOE needed a win in their regular-season finale Saturday to have a chance at postseason play and defeated Marian 69-41.

The tournament begins Tuesday, Feb. 19, with Concordia Wisconsin hosting MSOE and Aurora traveling to Dominican for first-round games. Tuesday's winners advance to semifinal games Friday, Feb. 22 at Wisconsin Lutheran. Lakeland will face the higher-seeded first-round winner in the early game at 5 p.m. followed by WLC and the lower-seeded first-round winner in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.

The championship game is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Wisconsin Lutheran. The winner earns the NACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship.

Wisconsin Lutheran is the defending champion and has won seven of the last eight NACC postseason crowns. The Warriors are currently ranked seventh in the latest NCAA Division III Central Region rankings and are receiving votes in the D3hoops.com poll.

Lakeland, which won tournament titles in 2010 and 2017, is in the tournament for the 11th time in 13 seasons.

Concordia Wisconsin (17-8, 15-5 NACC), which won two of the first three tournament titles (2006, 2008) is in the field for the 13th straight year. The Falcons are one of two schools (WLC) to have made the tournament in each year of the league's existance. A third school, Benedictine, had qualified for each of the first 12 editions but saw their streak come to a halt this season.

Domincan (16-9, 12-8 NACC) makes the field for just the third time (2011, 2012) and advanced to the 2012 final, while Aurora (11-13, 11-9 NACC) and MSOE (13-12, 11-9 NACC) are each making their eighth trip to the NACC Tournament. A NACC title for the Stars, Spartans or Raiders would be their first - regular-season or tournament - in the sport of women's basketball.
