MILWUAKEE – The Kern Center and MSOE hockey played host to it's second different team in as many days. Concordia Moorhead was the opponent this go-around, but even though the game was sloppy at times, it was the Raiders that closed out the opening weekend with two wins.
Concordia Moorhead – 2
MSOE – 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
This afternoon's game got off to another bad start, as once again MSOE (2-0-0) allowed a goal less than two minutes into the contest. With Concordia Moorhead (0-2-0) up 1-0, it was the Raiders that were going to have to battle back again. Unlike last night, there was no immediate response to even the playing field. The first period ended with the score still 1-0 in favor of the Cobbers, but the Red & White would could back out onto the ice on a mission. The second period was quiet until the last fourth of the time alloted when MSOE would strike and strike quickly. First up was Matt Hanewall who was assisted by Christian Sabin and Jeff Makowski at 15:12. Second was Stain Owens, who used helped by Garrett Gintoli and Stuart Harley to give the Raiders their first lead of the afternoon 2-1. The contest was far from over though. The Cobbers evened up the score just 3:42 seconds into the final frame, but MSOE was not deterred. Adem Arifi gave the lead back to MSOE and Kevin Shand converted on a power play to give the Raiders an insurance goal as they come away with their second straight win 4-2.
