WINONA, Minn. – After such a hectic start to the season, the #13 MSOE hockey team needed some rest and they got it. They returned to the ice for the first time since November 16th, downing St. Mary's on the road to close out November with a stellar 6-1-1 record.
#13 MSOE – 3
St. Mary's (Minn.) – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a game of back and forth between #13 MSOE (6-1-1, 1-1-1 NACC) and St. Mary's (2-4-1), as each team traded goals throughout the first two periods. The Cardinals drew first blood early on in the first with a goal just five minutes into the frame. It took MSOE some time to answer back, but Matt Hanewall scored unassisted with just ten seconds left to tie the game at 1-1 heading into the first intermission. The roles were reversed in the second, with Christian Sabin scoring the first tally in the middle period thanks to a pass from Stain Owens and Garret Gintoli at 9:40. SMU then scored with just 15 seconds left before the second break in the action to tie it once again at 2-2. Matt Hanewall was apparently done with this game of back and forth as he buried the game winner just 2:03 into the third with assists going to both Kyle Herbster and Jack Nickels. Logan Halladay and the Red & White defense prevented a third tie from occurring in the Raiders sixth win of the season.
WHO'S ON DECK
