Men’s Soccer Falls in NACC Championship to Dominican

MILWAUKEE – Playing in its fourth league title match in five seasons, the MSOE men's soccer team fell to Dominican 4-2 in the 2018 NACC Championship Saturday at Viets Field.

The top-seeded Raiders (15-4) was only able to pull back a late consolation goal against the No. 3 Stars (14-5-1). Dominican now receives the NACC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

The visitors scored twice in the opening half and then put the match out of reach with second-half scores in the 52nd and 75th minutes.

Sophomore Joey Schauer got MSOE on the board just 1:15 after the fourth goal, heading in a corner kick from sophomore Sam Gianakos.

The Raiders were energized after the goal but was unable to break down the disciplined Star defense.

Shots finished 22-7 in favor of Dominican and corner kicks went 6-4 in its favor, as well.

Freshman Ron Marchionna made six saves in the match, including a pair of key leaping stops in the opening minutes to keep DU at bay.
