CHICAGO - Coming into Saturday afternoon's game with Illinois Tech, the Raiders had yet to win more than one game in a row since they strung together two straight between September 7-9. They can now say they've done it again. The Raiders buried IIT in an offensive shootout to move to 3-1 in conference play.
MSOE – 5
Illinois Tech – 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
With the way the MSOE (5-4-1, 3-1 NACC) offense has gone this season, one would have the right to be worried to hear that they were involved in a contest where eight total goals were scored. There was no need to be afraid on Saturday afternoon, however. The Raiders scored more goals than they have in a single contest all season against Illinois Tech (3-8-0, 0-4 NACC), putting up five to move to 3-1 in conference play.
The game didn't get off to a smooth start though. IIT scored the first goal of the game less than two minutes after kickoff, but all that did was light a fire under the Red & White. The Raiders would go on to rattle off five straight tallies from five different scorers. Joey Schauer, Lucas D'Amato, Danny Scheel, and Drew Baumann all scored within 14 minutes of each other in the first half, while Carson Albert added the last MSOE goal at 58' in the second. Up 5-1, Illinois Tech tried to make things interesting by scoring two late goals, but it was too little too late as the Raiders forced them to 0-4 in NACC action.
