MILWAUKEE – The MSOE men's soccer team welcomed Concordia Wisconsin to Viets Field this evening for a crucial NACC match that would have implications on the playoff picture. The Falcons dominated for much of the first half and then some before the Raiders put together a rally that would ultimately end in a double overtime draw.
RESULT IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
Concordia Wisconsin – 2
MSOE – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (7-6-2, 5-3-1 NACC) was outgunned at the beginning of the match this evening, as Concordia Wisconsin (12-3-1, 6-2-1 NACC) used their speed to their advantage to get on the board first. The Falcons scored the lone tally of the first half at 25:15, a period that saw the Raiders unable to register a single shot on goal. CUW scored again, this time less than two minutes into the second half to give them a two-goal advantage, one that seemed insurmountable at the time. The Red & White certainly were not going to go down easy on Jimmy Banks night, however. Arsenius Adogmhe cut the Falcons lead in half when he scored unassisted at the 56' mark to begin the Raiders comeback. With the minutes quickly disappearing off the scoreboard, Danny Scheel's freekick found its way to Jack Van Dyke who put it home to tie the game with less than five minutes in regulation. As the game headed into overtime, both teams ramped things up. Although neither team scored, it was an intense final 20-minutes that saw the Red & White barely miss on a crossbar among other chances that didn't go their way. In the end a tie is better than a loss, as the two teams ended the battle at 2-2.
- This was the Raiders second double overtime draw of the season, with the first dating all the way back to the first game of the season against UW-Platteville.
- The life and legacy of the late Jimmy Banks was celebrated throughout the evening, with Banks' kids and youth soccer club in attendance.
