Can You Dig It? MSOE Men's Volleyball did this Weekend!
Friday: MSOE – 3 vs. CUC - 1
The MSOE men's volleyball (9-6) hosted fellow NACC member CUC (4-9) in a conference match that saw the Raiders win 3-1 (25-20, 25-12, 21-25, 25-18).
MSOE was led by Junior Jake Christensen who had 7 kills on 12 attacks and 4 assists. Senior Quin Krisik continues his dominance hitting .444 on 9 attacks with 6 kills and 17 assists. Fellow Raider Freshman Kalvin Fellows had 15 assists. Sophomore Jacob Bentz was not to be outdone hitting 8 kills on 13 attacks. Junior Danny Martens had 9 digs to lead the defensive statistics.
Saturday: MSOE - 3 vs. Benedictine - 2
If you wanted to see sparks fly, then this was the game to see. MSOE (10-6, 5-2 NACC) hosted fellow NACC rival Benedictine (13-2, 6-1 NACC). The Eagles led the NACC 6-0 and had only 1 loss, which was 12 matches ago against Stevenson. MSOE was in a four-way tie for 2nd place going into the match.
The Eagles came out swinging hitting .308 compared to MSOE's .148 and took the match 25-19. However, the Raiders regrouped and took the next set 25-21. The 3rd set couldn't have been any more decisive as the Red and White had to fight their way back being down 9 points to eventually win the set 25-23. The visiting Eagles were not to be held back and won the 4th to equal the match, hitting .296 compared to the Raiders .083 in the set 25-19. It came down to the 5th set to determine the winner and the Raiders didn't want to lose this opportunity at home. MSOE hit .429 in the set to win 15-9 and make a statement in the league.
Senior Quin Krisik led the Raiders with 45 assists, 12 kills on 25 attacks. Freshman Ben Pung added 14 kills on 32 attacks along with Freshman Jacob Sirny who had 11 kills. Junior Danny Martens had 21 digs to keep MSOE alive.
MSOE returns to the court March 6 at Marian University. Game time is 7pm.
