LISLE, Ill – Sophomore Megan Kroll and freshman Holly Denfeld each posted double-doubles to lead the MSOE women's basketball team to a 76-69 victory over Benedictine Wednesday evening at the Rice Center.
The Raiders (9-6, 7-3 NACC) pulled ahead by 10 late and held off the Eagles (5-9, 5-4 NACC) by hitting 14-of-18 free throws down the stretch.
Kroll scored 19 points to go with 12 rebounds, five steals and five assists in the game for MSOE. Denfeld picked up her ninth double-double of the season with a game-high 20 points and 11 rebounds. Freshmen Margaret Pugh and Corrine Sanford added nine points apiece.

The Raiders built a seven-point lead midway through the first half, but they led just 30-29 at halftime. The second half was tight throughout the first half, with the teams trading the lead when Denfeld tied the game at 50-50 with 9:31 remaining.
Denfeld added another jumper to push MSOE ahead for good. Kroll followed with a jumper and Denfeld a layup before the Eagles stopped the run with a jumper. Freshman Marisa Gerstbrein then answered with back-to-back three-pointers to put the Raiders ahead 62-52 with 5:36 on the clock.
They attempted just two field goals the rest of the game, instead holding Benedictine off by converting on 14-of-18 from the free throw line. BenU pulled within three at 63-60 at 2:24, but MSOE kept steady at the charity stripe to seal the victory.
The Raiders are back in action Saturday, traveling back to the Chicago area to take on Concordia Chicago.
