MILWAUKEE – Wins aren't always pretty. This one certainly backed that statement up. However, the Raiders were able to overcome 24 total turnovers to win their second straight game and move to 2-0 in the NACC with their seven-point win over Marian.
Marian – 36
MSOE – 43
HOW IT HAPPENED
The start of tonight's contest wasn't ideal for either team. MSOE (2-2, 2-0 NACC) earned just six points while Marian managed three off of 1-14 shooting in the initial ten minutes. Things got better for the Sabres in the second however, as they became hot from behind the ARC and scored 12 of their 17 points in the quarter via the three ball. With the score tied at 20-20 entering the third frame, MSOE once again limited the Marian offensive attack who missed all six tray attempts and shot just 18.8 percent from the field. The Sabres would actually go on to miss all 11 attempts from three-point land in the second half, allowing the Raiders to focus on taking more manageable shots to regain control of the contest. The Red & White hit just 27.1 percent of their shots throughout four quarters but converted on all eight free throws in the last ten minutes to ice their second straight conference victory and bring their record to .500 on the season.
- Though there were four lead changes, MSOE had the upper hand for 30:25 of the 40 minutes played.
- 47 total turnovers were committed, with the Red & White owning 24 of them.
- The Raiders created some much-needed separation when they went on an 11-0 run during the middle of the third quarter.
- Amy Reiser followed up her impressive 15 point, 17 rebound performance by putting up 11 and 18 tonight.
