RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Same location. Same opponent. Same final score. Déjà vu anyone? For the second straight day a MSOE soccer team headed down to face Dominican in the NACC semifinals. This time it was the women's soccer squad who suffered the same fate as their male counterparts, seeing their season end 1-0 against the Stars
#4 MSOE – 0
#1 Dominican – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was eerie how similar today's game between the MSOE (12-6-2, 9-2-1 NACC) and Dominican (17-2, 10-1-0 NACC) women's programs was to the men's yesterday. As was the case for the Stars win a day prior, the score was knotted at 0-0 heading into the halftime intermission. MSOE led in shots 4-2, but each team only got one shot on goal in the opening 45 minutes. Things changed quickly in the next frame. Dominican scored just 3:14 after the second half began, a goal that would end up being the game winner. The Raiders didn't lay down though. The Red & White got a total of 10 shots off in the second half, but only two were on target. The final few minutes saw the Raiders pour on the pressure and had a few good looks at the net, but there was always a Star there to break up a would-be goal. MSOE's season came to an end, but no one would be surprised to see the tables turned next year as a vast majority of the team will be back on the field for Rolf Zersen come August.
