MILWAUKEE- The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) has announced its major awards and all-conference teams for the 2019 women's soccer season. Four different MSOE women's soccer players made the list, one that is voted on by the leagues head coaches.
Caitie LeVasseur tops the list, as she made the first team after her impressive initial year playing for the Red & White. LeVasseur easily led the pack in both goals and points with 16 and 36 respectively. Her goal total is tied for the seventh best in a single season in program history, while her point toal is good for a share of ninth. She is already knocking on the door of a career record as well, needing just 3 more goals to break into the top ten all-time. LeVasseur led the team with three game winning goals throughout the 2019 campaign.
A trio of Raider ladies made the second team, with Jeray Riffel, Brooke Zidek, and Nikki Ratts each being recognized for their efforts out on the pitch. Riffel, the lone senior on the list, earned her third all-conference honor. She was also a part of the all-freshman team in 2016 and the first team after the 2018 season. Riffel finished her career with 21 assists, nine of which came this season, good for fifth all time. She also sneaked into the top ten in goals scored with 19 over the course of her four seasons.
Zidek is no stranger to this list either. The junior was named freshman of the year back in 2017, where she was also a member of the first team. Zidek finished right behind LeVasseur in goals and points (10 and 26), while trailing Riffel in assists with six. However, her already impressive career will roll on next season. Zidek ranks ninth all time with 24 goals, and her 62 total points is good for the same position in that category.
This year marked the first time that Ratts made the honor roll. The sophomore had four goals and four assists, but more importantly seemed to be always in the right place at the right time. Ratts scored the winning goal twice for the Raiders this season, while being very active on the defensive side of the game as well.
While Riffel has played her last match in a Red & White jersey, LeVasseur, Zidek, and Ratts will be back at it next year, looking to take back the NACC crown and punch their ticket to the NCAA tournament.
