FREMONT, Ind. – The MSOE triathlon team was back in action for their second race of the year this past weekend at the Trine Triple Sprint. The format consisted of a 300-yard swim, five-mile bike ride, and 1.25-mile run. Instead of running this course once, they were put through the paces three different times. The first was a deep-water start, the second was a time trial beginning, and they finished with a dock start in waves of 12. The Raiders handled the challenge well, coming in 6th place on Saturday morning.
6th out of 10
Rachel Ruona was the top Raider performer for the second race in a row, coming in ninth with a total time of 1:26.30. The senior was just five minutes off the top finisher and completed all three races under 29 minutes.
- While only one Red & White student-athlete placed in the top ten, six others placed in the top 40.
- The event was based on the super league triathlon format, which provided great learning opportunities for the eight racers that entered.
The Red & White's first ever home race is next on the docket. On September 28th, the Raiders will host the MSOE Splash N' Dash at Nicolet High School starting at 2:00 pm. Registration is open to the public for the non-collegiate portion of the afternoon. Those interested can sign up by cliciking here.
