MILWAUKEE – The Raiders women's volleyball team headed out on the road Tuesday evening, taking on Alverno and looking to snap their seven-match losing streak. It was another heartstopper reminiscent of earlier in the season, with the Raiders pulling out the five-set victory against the Inferno across town.
MSOE – 3 (25, 23, 25, 24, 18)
Alverno – 2 (22, 25, 17, 26, 16)
HOW IT HAPPENED
As in most matches that go five sets, the two teams were pretty much even on the stat sheet. MSOE (8-18, 3-8 NACC) had the advantage in kills (54-29) and hitting percentage (.170-.160), while Alverno (1-24, 0-10 NACC) topped the Raiders in fewest errors (23-28). Each set was back and forth, with each team winning or losing by no more than three points in sets one, two, four, and five. The outlier was the third set where the Inferno hit just .087, allowing the Raiders to use their 14 kills and .241 hitting percentage to put Alverno away easily. All but two Raiders registered a kill and all but one had a dig as the Red & White finally find the win column to move to 3-8 in NACC play.
RAIDER RECORD WATCH
Thanks to 28 assists in todays game, Allie Laurent has closed the gap significantly between her and the number five spot in the career assists category. The senior only needs 22 assists to enter the top five and has four games to tally them in.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will head into their second to last NACC match of the season when they take on Wisconsin Lutheran on Friday starting at 7:00 pm on the road.
